She completed her secondary education at Swami Vivekanand School in Chembur, Mumbai. Her aunt Grace Polycarp was the principal of the school. She is also an alumnus of the Holy Cross High School Thane where she had studied until ninth grade. She did her college education from Jai Hind college, Churchgate. She lived in Borla Society, Chembur opposite Basant Talkies before starting her modeling career.

Arora Khan was selected as one of the MTV VJs when MTV India started its operations in India. She rose to an interviewer for MTV India, becoming the most prominent non-movie, non-model female in urban India. MTV India, recognizing her potential, gave her plum roles co-anchoring with Cyrus Broacha the popular program ‘Love Line’ and ‘Style Check’, at award ceremonies and concerts on the television channel.

Arora Khan then entered the modeling world. Her modeling career was equally successful. She appeared in many advertisements as well as cameos for song and item numbers in Bollywood films such as Chaiyya Chaiyya in the film Dil Se.

In 2005, she did another item number, Kaal Dhamaal in the film, Kaal. She also did an item number in Mahesh Babu’s Telugu film. In 2007, she did a title song in Heyy Babyy directed by Sajid Khan and another popular song for Om Shanti Om whose director is the sister of Sajid, Farah Khan. In 2008, she did an item number in the film, Welcome with Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor. In 2009 she was a Rishto Ke Parkhi in Star Plus reality show called Lux Perfect Bride along with Shekhar Suman and Amrita Rao.

In 2010, she featured in the superhit item song “Munni Badnaam” in the film Dabangg, which was produced by her husband Arbaaz Khan.
Television

Arora Khan appeared in the television show Nach Baliye as one of the three judges. The show was aired on STAR One in mid-2005. She continued as a judge in Nach Baliye 2 that started airing in the last quarter of 2006. In this show, she performed many item numbers as an example for all contestants. She highly criticized Bakhtiyaar Irani for being arrogant in the show. She strongly mentioned that Bakthiyaar Irani should do a crash course on humility to improve his behaviour.

Arora Khan also appeared in the show Zara Nachke Dikha as a judge along with the Indian actor Chunky Pandey on Star One.

Arora Khan was seen as judge in the show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2010 along with Indian actress Madhuri Dixit and choreographer Remo D’Souza.
Personal life

Arora Khan is married to Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan whom she met during a coffee ad shoot. Together they have a son, Arhaan. Her sister is actress Amrita Arora, and her brothers-in-law are Bollywood actor Salman Khan and actor-director-producer Sohail Khan. Her father-in-law is the famous scriptwriter Salim Khan.

Anurag saw her first in a party and instantly finalized her to play the character of Paro in movie Dev D.

Gill is set to appear in Paan Singh Tomar with Irrfan Khan.

Pinto co-starred in Woody Allen’s comedy-drama film You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, with Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Anupam Kher and Naomi Watts, which premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Pinto appeared in the 2011 science fiction film Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series, opposite James Franco. She played Caroline, a primatologist, in the film. She will also appear in the 2011 fantasy-action-drama film, Immortals, in which she will play the role of the oracle priestess Phaedra. Also in 2011, she will play Princess Lallah in the 1930s set Black Gold.

Pinto has joined Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf to support their philanthropic organisation “Agassi Foundation”. She is the only Indian actress to have participated in their annual fund raiser titled, “The 15th Grand Slam for Children”, that aims at raising funds for education of underprivileged children.
Popular reception

Pinto is featured in People magazine’s “Most Beautiful People List”, and “List of World’s Best Dressed Women”. She was also featured in the “Top 99 Most Desirable Women” poll conducted by Askmen.com in 2010. According to The Daily Telegraph, she is currently the highest paid Indian actress (she does not count as a Bollywood star as she never appeared in a Bollywood film). She has also been listed in the top ten list of the fashion magazine Vogue’s 2009 annual list of the most stylish women. On 13 May 2009, Pinto became a new spokesmodel for L’Oréal. Near the end of 2010, Pinto was ranked #6 in TC Candler’s list of “Most Beautiful Faces”.

In 2002, Basu starred in Telugu movie Takkari Donga and Vikram Bhatt’s thriller Raaz. Raaz was a big commercial success and surfaced as the biggest hit of that year. For her performance in the film, she received her first Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare. One review in The Tribune noted, “…it is Bipasha Basu who steals the show with her fine performance.” She appeared as Sonia Khanna in the 2003 hit movie Jism alongside John Abraham. The movie earned her a Filmfare Best Villain Award nomination.

Besides acting, Basu did the video “Tu” for Sonu Nigam’s album, Kismat. She made a guest appearance in Jay Sean’s music video “Stolen.”

In 2006, she performed an item number “Beedi” in the film Omkara for which Rediff noted Basu’s picturisation. In 2008 Basu starred in Race, her second collaboration with Abbas-Mustan. Co-starring Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, the film performed well at the box office, and Basu’s performance was appreciated by critics. Taran Adarsh of indiaFM described her performance as “her best work so far. She’s superb”. She also received good reviews for her role in Bachna Ae Haseeno opposite Ranbir Kapoor. She completed the year by appearing in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in the song “Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte.”

In 2005 Bipasha and John Abraham did a fitness video with Eros called Bollywood Bodies. In 2010 she launched her own line of videos with Shemaroo under the banner BB – Love Yourself. The first release is called “Fit and Fabulous You.”

Making her acting debut in Sathyan Anthikkad’s Malayalam film Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001), Asin had her first commercial success with the Telugu film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi in 2003, and won a Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award for the film.

After a number of films, she received her second South Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her critically acclaimed performance in her second Tamil film, Ghajini (2005). She played the lead female roles in blockbusters such as the action comedy Varalaru (2006), the action thriller Pokkiri (2007) and the big budget production Dasavathaaram (2008). In late 2008, Asin made her début in Bollywood, with Ghajini, the remake of its Tamil namesake, subsequently winning the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award.

Asin was born in Kochi, Kerala, India and attended Naval Public School from L.K.G.(Pre.K) through 10th standard (grade). She then attended St. Teresa’s School in Kochi for her Plus Two education. After that she attended St. Teresa’s College for Women in Kochi, a college affiliated with MG University, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in English Literature. Her father, Joseph Thottumkal originally from a Nasrani travancore Christian family in Thodupuzha, managed several businesses. Sharma was born in Bangalore, but her parents are from Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Her father, Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an army officer and her mother Ashima Sharma is a housewife. She has an elder brother named Karnesh, who was a state-level cricketer and now, is in the Merchant Navy. She studied in Army School and graduated with specialization in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She later moved to Mumbai to further pursue her modelling career, where she currently resides.
Sharma says she originally wished to make it big in the modeling world but had no strong aspirations for films. She began her modeling career at the Lakme Fashion Week as a model for Wendell Rodricks’s Les Vamps Show and was picked to be Rodricks’s finale model at the Spring Summer ’07 Collection. Her first acting role was in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) opposite Shahrukh Khan. It’s no small achievement to share screen space with an actor of the caliber of SRK and Anushka manages it very well from start to end.” Her second film, Badmaash Company, also under Yash Raj Films, was released on May 7, 2010. She starred in her third Yash Raj Film, Band Baaja Baaraat, directed by Maneesh Sharma and co-starring debutant Ranveer Singh. Band Baaja Baaraat was released on December 10, 2010 to positive reviews and became a sleeper hit. This time Adarsh wrote, “Anushka is truly wonderful. The toughest part of her job must have been to speak like a typical Delhi Punjabi girl and she does it so skillfully. For the first time in her 3-film career, a film rests mainly on Anushka’s shoulders, as opposed to her prior films , and she handles the responsibility so well.” For her performance, she received her second nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress and earned several awards and nominations at different award ceremonies.

In December 2009, she began shooting for Patiala House, her first venture outside of Yash Raj with Nikhil Advani and Akshay Kumar. Patiala House was released on February 11, 2011. Despite the film’s lukewarm performance at the box office, Sharma received positive reviews. Nikhat Kazmi of The Times Of India wrote, “Anushka Sharma’s vivacity may have an after taste of her bubbling Band Baaja Baraat act but her passage from Janakpuri’s dhinchak girl to Southall’s siren is sweet and smooth. Watch out for the girl; she’s truly on a roll.”

As of June 2011, she is set to re-unite with her Band Baaja Baarat gang Ranveer Singh and Maneesh Sharma for Yashraj Films’s 2011 release Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.

Patel is the daughter of Amit Patel and Asha Patel, sister of Ashmit Patel and the granddaughter of the famous lawyer-politician Barrister Rajni Patel who was the Congress Pradesh Committee President of Bombay. She was born in the Breach Candy Hospital in Bombay and is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer since the age of five. Her birth name is a blend of the first three letters of her father’s name Amit and the last three letters of her mother’s name Asha.

She studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Bombay and was head girl for the academic year 1992–1993 before heading overseas to study Economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

Patel’s career began as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited after graduation. Later on, she received an offer from Morgan Stanley but turned it down. After returning to India, she joined Satyadev Dubey’s theatre group and acted in plays, including an Urdu language play titled Neelam (1999) that was written by Tanveer Khan, upon receiving permission from her conservative parents.
